I want to build a sleeper
Like, a serious sleeper. Something you definitely wouldn't normally expect. Camaro/firebird/mustang/corvette/<insertsportscar> are definitely not sleepers.
Give me suggestions for good cars to make into a sleeper. GM brand would be handy because i'm going to have an extra SBC 350 to do something with pretty soon.
*note* no swapping fuel systems(fuel injector to carb'd or vice versa), cheaper the better
seeing teh vid of the k-car rofflestomping the supra again is what got me going on this.

Well keep in mind an SBC goes in anything so that said, pick anything it doesnt have to be GM. One of the coolest was a older celica, we did with an LSx.

what's your plans for the sbc? Something like a 60's buick would be cool, stock interior, stock wheels, etc. My uncle has a 67 skylark with stupidly quiet exhaust, looks bone stock. But the factory rally wheels were widened, and he put a crazy built 454 with nitrous hidden under the air cleaner. Runs 10's, drives to the track, looks like a big brown slow car.

The SBC has a stock set of vortec heads, some cam i don't remember, some edelbrock intake i don't remember, and some holley carb i don't remember the specifics of. lol, very specific.
Talking with my dad, he wanted to put it in his beat down 92 s-10...but i told him it was too overdone and more trouble than it was worth for his crappy truck.

My room mate had a 95 plane neon that looked bone stock down to the tail pipe. He put in the turbo parts from a newer SRT-4 neon and a few other supporting mods that ran low 12's with some meaty tires. That's pretty quick for a neon. I know its not GM though.

Hmm, that makes it tricky. you've gotta pick the right car, something light. A heavy one like my idea wouldn't work, it would be a sleeper with no get up and go
what about a 1980's malibu?

oh and out of more boredom, here's the rofflestomp vid.
The crowd's reaction is priceless.
The board at the end reads 10.53 @ 130mph

we thought about an 80's monte carlo(found quite a few straight body'd ones in the $800 range on craigslist)...but i wasn't sure if that would be sleeperish enough.
My dad and i are already building an 85 el camino with a 454 in it...i'm trying to get ideas for a fun sleeper to use the current 350 in.

2 dr. Chevette + modded L67 + widened steel wheels with some good sticky tread and track capable rear end (4.56's maybe) and lots of quality fab work to keep the unibody from shredding like a coke can under a lawnmower with the first brake-stall == Epic case of the Shricks!
Oh, cheaper the better...350 swapped S10? 350 in a late 70's early 80s RWD Celica?

try an old 70's volvo 240 sedan.
Edit: Just saw that all volvo 240's imported in the US were fuel injected.

I've always liked the idea of a v8 datsun/nissan z car or v8 rwd celica...but don't know how much of a sleeper that could be. We discussed an early to mid 70's 4 door nova as well, but again i'm not sure if it is too common or not.

Edit: How about a little MG? I don't think I've ever seen a 'fast' MG... It's still sort of a sports car though.
