Leave it in.
Some people remove it in thoughts of better air flow resulting in more power. However some people discover their car idles worse when cold. If it was not nesacary GM would not have put on the car. They would rather save .03 per car

the nitrous can stick/glob kinda on the screen, cutting down airflow (nitrous flow to maf), the maf wont see the super cold air and wont add additional fuel.
lean condition will present itself..not a good thing.
removing the screen removes the chance of this happening.
removing it also allows you to "tune" the nozzle spray pattern, this adjusts the fueling as the harder the maf gets hit, the more fuel it will add..up to the limits of your fueling abilities.

I took mine off and no real problems, but in retrospect I would have left it on. It helps smooth out air flow going into the MAF to help it get a better reading. Not worth any real gains especially on a street car.

I've got a 2K model so it has the straight TB. I removed mine while seafoaming the intake and never put it back in. I still have it, but I never noticed a difference. I also have a Whisper lid installed so dunno if that helps compared to the baffled stock intake.

I took mine out, and it ran just fine. I have a 97. I have since put it back in, just because I didn't want to lose it if I need it one day.
