    3800 Series II Cam List(PM me if you have one of these)

    This list covers every camshaft available for the GM 3800 Series II Engine. They are listed in increasing size starting with the STOCK cam.
    All specs are actual numbers, if running any rocker ratio other than Stock 1.6:1, divide the Lobe lift by 1.6 then multiply the decimal number by the ratio of your rocker arms.

    Example: .512 / 1.6 = .320 .320 x 1.7 = .544

    Hey I am new to the 3800 world and I would like to know any other upgrades need to be done to the engine when you put a cam in the car such as Abbott Racing: 210/220 .512/.512 112 N/A?

    It varies, you will need new valve springs though.

    Most people that do the abbott cam replace the gaskets, valve springs, pushrods, timing chain, lifters, locks, and retainers.

    I have seen people just buy the cam and a set of valve springs, now it is possible to do this but the factory timing chain is not up to the task, when you replace the timing chain you have to delete the balance shaft which involves removing the balance shaft gear and this is totally fine. Upgrading the valve springs is easy but if you go with a large valve spring you will have to have a stronger timing chain like a double roller. You can reuse your factory lifters or order a set from comp cams. You can order allmost everything you need from our sponsors. It is also wise to upgrade your pushrods since you will be putting more stress on them with a larger cam and stronger timing chain. Just pm 97rs4life and he can help you with getting all you need for a great price. Abbott can help too but it doesn't hurt dealing with multiple people.

    Ok, thank you very much for the info, now one more question, is there a less aggressive cam I can get that will not take much more moding then just putting the cam in or is the prossess you described go with most any cam I would buy?
