    Coil packs

Just a quick question. I need to replace the coil packs I my 01 camaro. The gm coils are rated at 55k volts while the msd are 45k volts. Are any of the other stock replacements rated that high?

I just put a coil on my 99 firebird recently, just a cheap no name coil and it works fine. I'd suggest while your changing the coils check under the ICM for corrosion on the aluminum bracket because apparently the ICM needs to ground through it. Mine had lots of corrosion. You need to replace all the coils?? what happened to them all?

No just 1 is bad, but since they are all 10+ years old is like to replace them all. There is actually quite a bit of corrosion under there. I'll have to sand that all down before reinstallation. Thanks for the heads up.

At that price you might as well buy new.

I believe Scott is trying to tell you to buy new, cause it's not worth it for him to sell you used for almost same price.

To be blunt, yes. I didn't realize how cheap they were new, so I'll just keep these as backups.

Yes, use factory units, and clean all electrical connections well, and apply some dielectric grease to avoid corrosion.
