    security light is on and stays on but car runs ......... any help

    It could be your key. If the computer recognizes that the key is failing it will disable that part of the system. It does this so you can still drive your car even though your key is broken. At least that is what it could be, my car does the same thing.

    Or your key could be fine, and the sensors inside the ignition could be worn.

    My lights been on since 2008, got a new key made at the dealer ($75.00 wtf?) and still the same.

    The guy at the dealer said it prolly the ignition need replaced.

    Ignition switch, the contacts the are probably going bad.

    Just wait till it dies, or go to dealer and have it replaced... Or DIY?

    Somebody on here a long long time ago told me that they had the same problem and took the ignition out.
    He found 1 little white wire that separated from the contact.
    He just soldered it back on.

    Yeah mine doesn't cause any problems yet, besides constantly dinging when the door is open like they key is still in. That and if the door is open it will do the rapid ding if you try to push the power lock button. I'll fix it someday lol
