SO what causes the clutch to not disengage?
So just like it says its a 99 v6 with a 5 speed that will not disengage. Only 80k miles. I put a spec stage 3+ in this thing about 2 years ago and everything was fine for about 1.5 years. Then one day the clutch got dumped from a stop light and it wouldent disengage. So I though there was a pocket of air in the line so I bleed the life out of it with my MAC air vac/pump. Now before I took it off the jack stands I had my buddie press the clutch in a few times with me under the car I could see the slave/throw out bearing moving about 1.5" ish. So we took it off the stands, took it for a spin and it was fine for a few min. But As soon as I dumped the clutch, (about 3 min after I took it on the test drive) it was right back to being stuck engaged. So we brought it back in and I thought that it must be sucking air in from somewhere. So took a look again to see if I could see any leaks. Nothing. So I bleed it again and now its still stuck engaged. But with the car off it will go through gears just fine. If I put it into gear with the car off, And turn the car over with the clutch pressed in it lurches because the clutch wont disengage. So I drive it around the block in first gear and jumpon the gas a little to see if it will go back and nothing.
So I figure its eather the slave or the cluch master cyl. I dont know if anyone else has had this problem but if you have and you figured out wha the deal was let me know otherwise Im gona start with replacing the master cyl because its easyer than replacing the slave....lol
Cliffs:
Clutch wont disengage, Whats wrong?

I haven't had a stickshift F body, but I haven't heard anything good about SPEC clutches. My guess is the pressure plate is shot or the clutch fork is bent.

There is no clutch fork to get bent its a hydro throw out bearing/slave.

Oh, ok. I knew the LS1 had that system for some reason I though the L36 was different...

its 1 of 2 things
1.slave cylinder
or
2. master cylinder
i had a S10 do the same thing

I put in a spec stage 2 clutch, and it lasted like 6 months. Flung 2 of the springs out of the clutch disk. I could go through the gears fine with the car off but when it was running, I couldn't even push the pedal.

So I replaced the master cyl and still the same issue. So then I dropped the transmission and replaced the slave, but b4 I put the trans back it I wanted to take a look at the clutch real quick. Pull the pp off and couldn't get the spec couch disk to come off of the flywheel. I though wtf? So with a rubber mallet and a little lite taping with a prybar on the edge of the disk I final got it off. The clutch disk had welded itself to the flywheel. So now the flywheel, clutch disk, and pressure plate are all shit. This clutch has less than 1500 mile of just lite street driving on a unmodded stock v6. Spec is gona get a call for sure tomorrow!!

trust me....
It sound like the clutch plate has been dragging. It almost sounds like a miss-adjusted clutch linkage. (which of course I already know the F-bodies dont use adjustable push-rods in thier pedal assemblies)
Perhaps "overslippage" or partial disengagement from dead-stops could be the culprit. I honestly dont know what else could cause that.

I don't see it being over slippage at all, I've driven sticks for over 15years, and raced my other car weekend after weekend and have not once ever had a problem. And I dd my race car. So I think its a manufacturing flaw. I will post up pics later.

So it looks like spec is gona tell me to kick rocks and its somehow my fault that there clutch was a Pos. So f+ck them. I need a new clutch that is gona last longer than 1500 miles and hold 300+ HP. What do I buy now?

Well the centerforce clutch showed up today. Looks pretty.....lol I don't see what makes it any better than a sticker but I hope it will hold more than stock power. It only rated for 350 ft lb tq. Shit my Honda clutch holds that. And its still a full street disk. Whatever, just hope it last longer than 1500 mile.
