Sounds like some trans issues? Or was that the motor? Something didn't sound healthy, it should have revved higher than that too. I take it you disconnected the speed sensor?

hmm when the HP/torque varies like that (1 run goes a little high, 1 run is a little lower) doesnt that mean your engines pretty tired?

It's a crate motor with 15k miles on it. There are transmission issues, and the car was getting warm on the last few runs. I actually had to drive the car around for a while so the trans would warm up and stay in gear
