    General opinion question

How do you guys feel about a non-service member wearing a military shirt?

I was in the dining hall today, rocking an air force shirt. It was just like one of those tshirts that they give out at promotional events and whatnot.
One of the ladies working there looked at me and asked if I was in the airforce... I said no. Then she asked if I was an airforce brat. I said no... She looked at me in a very quizzical look, almost asking me to explain myself. So I informed her that I was just trying to give those in the air force some much due respect. She accepted that explanation, and I moved on.
Not trying to pose or anything, I just like to give the military some respect in a liberal college environment where I fear that I am in the minority. Its a pretty cool shirt as well!

Do you guys see this as posing?

(And on a semi-related note, I just spent all day reading up on different jobs in the military that I am really considering. In a year or so, you guys might be getting some questions!)

No I don't see it as posing.

Would you call all those kids with holster shirts on that are not from California to be posing?

    Meh, it doesn't bother me.

Do the members of a rock band get mad when a fan wears a band logo'd tshirt?

What gets me angrier than hell is when people where official issued uniform apparel. I went to a gunshow last week and a hillbilly fat guy was wearing a USMC 8-point cover. He was a fat slack jawed yokel who never served. He thought that since he liked firearms, he related enough to the USMC to wear our sacred garments. asshat.

Screenprinted Tshirts and whatnot are cool.

I would say that 99% of service members will see that you're just wearing an air force shirt.

We actually appreciate it. That lady is just a little slow.

Personally I've given my family some of my old Army t-shirts from places I've been and things I've done. I think that most of us really don't care as long as you don't lie and say that you are in the military if someone asks. That pisses me off more than almost anything else. Well that and wearing actual military gear to try to look like Mr. Billy Bad Ass. If you've served then it's fine but if you never did then you need to die in a fire.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car, oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car, horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

i wear a F22 shirt sometimes. granted, my dad is a retired pilot, and is a F22 simulator instructor (thus i have a really cool shirt that they dont sell in stores....yet), but i dont find anything wrong with civilians wearing armed forces shirts. i think its patriotic.

Yeah, that is pretty much what I was thinking. I definitely am not trying to pass off being in the military.

After reading up a bit, I have gotten interested in being either a translator (Knowing Arabic gives me some nice leverage...), HUMINT collector, or intelligence analyst. We'll see what happens though.

Ugh... You want to be a JAFO (just another fucking operator)? j/k If you want to do it I say go for it. There's a lot to be said for the MI field. Yeah there's a lot of BS that comes with it and you catch a lot of flak from people for being MI, but it's not all too bad and you can see and hear about some really cool things even if you can't tell people about them

I'm with Geoff on this one. Absolutely nothing wrong with wearing mass produced T-shirts or hats. But if you're wearing actual uniform items, i have a serious issue with that. I almost kicked the shit out of some redneck fuck at Mile High Nationals because he was wearing a blouse with the US Marines tape on it, our 8 point cover and issue boots. He was an employee there, and i got in touch with his manager, and i didn't see the kid again that day.

Being an international relations major, I want to do something that is relevant to my studies, and that will be relevant to a career. As I said though, it won't be for a while, so I have time to think.

Do people that walk around in the uniforms lie and say that they served, or do they just do it for the initial look?
