    question about 4.10 gears..

i haven't posted here in a while and i'm not sure that there are still any ford members on, but i'm looking to buy some gears and probably a limited slip diff. and i read somewhere that rangers come stock with 4.10s so does anyone know if they would be interchangeable ?

im not an expert but.... rangers came with both 8.8 inch rear ends and 7.5 inch.. v6 mustangs have a 7.5, it should work just fine as long as the parts match.. you must have both the the matchin rack and pinion gears, but remember im not an expert, best of luck to you

that's correct, make sure you verify what rear end the ranger has before you pull the gears.

Why do you want 4.10's? What kind of driving do you normally do?

I beg to differ on the highway. 80mph grants 3200rpms = guzzling gas.

Luckily I don't go on the highway too much haha.

You know? I read your post am I like... Umm, 80mph at 3200 rpms? guzzling gas? I think 80mph in any car and any gear your gonna be near if not over 3200rpms.

My car at 80mph runs around 3200 and I've got 3.08's.
Whats wrong with your post? I'm missing something?

That cannot be true. I have an A4, 3.42 gears, and at 80mph I'm turning 2700rpms. You have numerically lower gears, therefore, assuming we are both going the same speed (80mph), you will will always be turning fewer rpms than me.

Take a look for yourself here
