    what's your favorite weapon?

as the title states... what do you carry and what is your favorite, i'm required to carry an m4, m9, xm 218 .50 cal, and a 240 gulf. the xm218 is the window gun on the helicopter but can be transported if needed, the 240 is our tail gun. the m4 and m9 are issued. i'm partial to the .50 cal. but the 240 is fun too.

I prefer the M249. It's what I trained with through MOUT training in Security Forces, and what I was issued in the 'box.

I only carried an M16A4, but my favorite weapon is a 240G, for versatility reasons.

It packs a bigger punch than a 249, but it can also be shoulder fired should the need arise. M2s might bring an abrupt end to enemy activity, but if the vehicle goes down, or the tripod on which it's mounted (if you're not mobile) gets damaged, the weapon is now useless. MK-19s are the same sort of deal, but you have to get authorization to even use them within city limits in Iraq.

So that's why the good ol' 240G will always have a special place in my heart.

So far M16A2. My base is finally phasing out M16s and soon replacing them w/ M4s. I'd like to own a M4 for personal use.

M61A1 vulcan cannon. Air to air weapon of choice. A true knight of the air (or a total badass) can get a gun kill. Missles are sooo uncivilized.

On the ground, I'd have to say the M249. Big punch but you can still run with it if you need too. I also love the loose tolerances of the SAW. If you drench it in CLP, it will never jam. (for me, at least)

TH, I would love to see someone shoulder fire an M240G with any accuracy. I am not that much man.

Not nearly as accurate as an M16, but most guys in my unit could tear up the targets at the Ramadi impromptu range from the shoulder. It's enough at least to force anyone down range to keep their heads down.

But i didn't mean shoulder fired specifically, i should have said fired without the use of a bi-pod or other mounting device.

I have always wanted to play with a P90. but I would have to say some variant of the bullpup design is what is needed now. the current M16 is way too big, and the M4 looses range with the shorter barrel. Bullpup = full length rifle barrel, small size.

Malice I would assume you would have chosen an AIM-120 or Aim-9... Pilots in today's AF have to REALLY screw up in order to be forced to actually use the Vulcan... But this is coming from a guy that works on the F-22 so we never like to get that close to the enemy.

Yeah, missles are safe, but If I lost all fear of death I would love to get into a visual range fight guns only. That is soo elegant, but still brutal.
