    The Holden Intake Thread

Hmm, maybe I should take Merlin's lead and play innovator and see about one of those Holden intakes. Hmm.

yeah, I'm going to be talking with them about one for my new motor to find out what kind of cost it is...I have no problem cutting up the hood to make room for it if need be as it will just be a racecar.

Also need to find out about setting it up to the electronic throttle rather than the cable.

We'll see though...it wouldnt be for a while though as money is going into more crucial components first...like a friekin transmission that will work.

From what i've seen off of comeracing.com the ecotec or L36 intake the throttle body is off to the driver side and from the dyno pic the intake is lower than the alternator so clearance shouldnt be an issue height wise. Also JimValako said:

All the cast manifolds I've seen have a bad angle to the entrance of the port. The roof of the intake has a very high pressure area while the floor is dead. The best manifold I've seen so far was an Austrailian piece or so they called it.
Isnt the Grand Prix intake for the L36 kinda like the LS1 in the design?

If you want to show a picture, you've got to upload it somewhere. You can't link directly to your hard drive.

like i said, whenever you are ready

in fact, i bet we could get ahold of the lower intake and fab up an upper that would fit. wheels spinning and all

Hey, PM me Justin. The more I look at this, the more I'm extremely interested. Some of the pics I'm seeing look like it might be doable. It would just be a matter of getting the coils out of the way and figuring out what to do about a throttlebody.

I've got a stock motor sitting on an engine stand for fabbing.

    *edit*

And yes! You always need moar torque!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok upon getting home, I've taken some measurements. The stock upper and lower straight intake setup is right around 7.5". From Merlin's pics, the holden setup appears to be around 9.5". So about a 2" difference. Looking at my car, if I trim the cowl until it's level with the little plastic trim piece on top...I should gain just about 3" of space. Plenty of room.

My coils are already out of the way. Can I play too?
I *might* be able to get things into this country from AUS potentially for less than the cost of normal shipping overseas.
