Race lines are optimum paths to take around curves on a race track. For example, on a switchback on flat ground, you'd stay to the outside of the track so you can begin turning in earlier. If you do it right, your outside wheels should end up on the outside edge of the track once you've made the turn.

It's tough to describe. Go get your International License on Gran Turismo and you'll see what I mean.

DAVID!I done told you about racing lines! I even showed you on GT3 by raping you with a slower car. But anyways, most race lines go from the outside of the turn, to the inside, to the outside. But of course if you throw 3 really werid curves together. Then the racing lines will change, you might swing wide on one corner, on vice-versa. Anyways. I will show you tommorow David. Later,

The best racing line is essentially the shortest distance around the track. Read the GT3 guide for the simplest info. This might help too: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/physics5.htm. BTW, GT4 will blow EVERYTHING away (if it's ever released).

That's not true. The best racing line will provide the shortest time around the track. The whole idea is to enter and come out of turns with as much speed as possible. When you start putting multiple turns together, the optimum 'racing line' hardly ever equates to the shortest path.

The shortest racing line implies staying on the inside of the turn always. That doesn't always work unless you're driving NASCAR ovals.
