I just got an ALDL cable that connects my laptop's serial port to the ECM via the kick panel under the steering wheel, but I can't seem to find any software that works for my car. They're all for the z28. Where can I find software for the 1994 3.4L automatic tranny camaro?
I'm just trying to read engine codes. I'm getting a check engine light, and i'm pretty sure it's the EGR, considering when the light comes on and considering the history of this engine in the camaro. I just want to make sure, cuz I don't want to re-install a working $200 part.
plus, hooking up a laptop to your car is super cool.
All I need this program to do is to read SES codes. Will any program work for that, or does it have to be specific for the 3.4L Camaro? I think mine's too old to be able to edit the ECM anyways. I have the cable and I tried a few programs, but no information would read at all.
Also, what baud is the 3.4L camaro, 160 or .. theother one.. I forget.
did you try the program i linked to?
i think your car is too new for it. I didnt see it on the engine support list. Its not really that great to read codes with anyway.
just go to advance or autozone to get your codes checked for free
Not yet, I have to use someone else's car's cig lighter because my cell charger broke my cigarette lighter. how stupid is that? anyone know how to fix those?

i tried to go to autozone, but they just try to flash the ECM with the key thing, which doesn't work. They won't listen to me when I tell them you have to use a OBD1 scantool. that, and the dealerships and stuff want to charge a billion dollars to hook up the stupid scan tool.
actually, I just replaced to stupid EGR and it's been running a lot better. I got a code on the HW, but it went away after a minute. I don't know what that means. Maybe it was a false warning or something.
I don't want to mess with the EGR system anymore.

I'm not aware of any software that works on the 3.4
I know this Actron tool works on the 3.4 because I had one hooked up to mine at the shop. You can get one on eBay for around $250 and it reads both ODB-I and II.
