    My L67 swap project

I didn't know where to post this since I don't fit in anywhere else on this board. I'll be starting my next engine swap as soon as I help finish my brother's(redfrk) turbo conversion on his truck. I already got a '99 L67 from Ed Morad that I'll be swapping into my '89 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera International Coupe. It already has a 3300/4T60 in it now so I'm not expecting too much trouble mounting it to the subframe. I plan to use later A-body 4T60E style trans mounts, and stick with the A-body rubber engine mount mated to the L67 engine mount bracket. I think I'll be able to use a U-body(Olds Silouette) 3800/4T60E passenger side axle, but I'm not sure about the driver's side. Anyways, here are a couple pictures of my Ciera as it sits now. I swapped Cutlass Supreme wheels with 225/50/16s onto it. Plus, I have a rare set of A-body Eibach's on my old Ciera that I plan to swap onto this one. It should be a fun car since it only weighs ~2900lbs.

It has ~146K on the clock, and I'm only the third owner. The guy I bought it from bought it from his mother-in-law in '99 and it only had 39K on it. He daily drove it, but hit a deer a couple years back so the whole car was repainted. They did put the wrong grill on the car though. The RPO codes call for a black grill to go with the black moulding, but they put a chrome grill on the car. I don't have any interior pictures at the moment, but it has center shift with a driver info center. It has the FE3 suspension and they are pretty firm for an Oldsmobile, but the Eibachs I plan to swap into it are a lot stiffer. Plus, the struts/shocks are original and they are worn out so it's getting KYB GR-2s in the front and Gas-A-Just in the rear. No A-body came with a rear swaybar so I'll be getting an Addco 3/4" rear swaybar as well. Also, when I do the swap I'm swapping on 6000 STE rear disc brakes and I'm going to fab up brackets to mount W-body front brake calipers and rotors. It's getting a full 3" exhaust with the L67 swap, because the next stage of the swap after this summer is a Turbonetic's 60-1 that's sitting at my brother's house.

I just wanted to post an update that I'm still moving forward with my L67 swap...it's just going really slow. I've been replacing some gaskets on the engine as I take it apart to clean it. So far I've replaced the vavle covers gaskets that are prone to leaking as well as the fuel injector o-rings when I took off the fuel rail to paint it. I also ported the exhaust manifolds as well as paint them with high temp paint. I also cut the W-body dogbone bracket off of the ICM mount so I could modify a 3300 dogbone bracket to fit. Right now, I've started to modify the wiring harness to work with my car. I've documented most of the changes I need to make, but I'm sure more will show up. Here are couple pictures of the the engine & trans:

Here a picture of the Oldsmobile boost gauge that I bought from GM. You can see that it's the same font that the factory Sport Cluster used.

I was able to get quite a bit of work done on my L67 swap this weekend. I used the factory 3300 engine mount bracket and front trans mount bracket. I also used the 3300 A/C bracket after I cut a small notch in it to clear the supercharger idler pulley mount.

Here is a picture the rear trans mount adapter plate that I fabricated out of 1/4" steel.

And here a picture of it installed with the rear trans mount bolted to it.

Here is a picture of the L67 on the A-body cradle with the rack installed. There are no clearance problems with the rack at all.

Overall, everything is looking really good and I should have it in the car sometime this week. 8) :-D
