I have decided. I'm no longer going to mod my V6. I'm going to do the ultimate mod to a V6 car. An LS-1 swap.. So now comes the time of saving money and locating the parts I need. Donations will be accepted..:D

I hope you have another car to drive while you do this. Plus you can expect to pay at LEAST 5 grand. You will need the PCM, wire harness, K-member, transmission, gauge cluster, (try to get one out of the car you get the engine). You might even need to get a new fuel pump. If you are doing this yourself, well it is not something you can do in a weekend. I think. Oh, don't forget those moter mounts.
Smart man. Selling my old car and getting this was the best (but most expensive) decision I have made in my life thus far.

An LS1 swap would take a weekend at most. Start Friday night tear down some stuff, wake up Saturday morning early and have the V6 out by 10-11AM and have the LS1 in there and connected by 10PM, and spend all day Sunday doing little shit.
Congrats Timbo... should be an awesome project. Hopefully be years end I will be financially ready to do a swap-a-roo

So, what are the advantages of swapping the engine versus swapping the whole car?

I would rather put a V8 in my 'Bird than buy a different F-Body with one already in it. This is my first car and I'll love it forever.

I plan on doing it to my car because right now it is easier for me to save up 4 grand and put it in my car than having to sell my car and fine a decent LS1. Plus my car is in pretty good shape and already has some suspension work on it... easier then buying a new one and having to buy suspension parts for it again. :)

Oh, don't forget those moter mounts.Actually I will need LS-1, transmission, under hood harness with PCM, Firewall harness, Dash harness, gas tank, gas pedal, guage cluster, and drive shaft. I already have a Eaton HD posi with 3.42 gears.. I may have it rebuilt with hardened axles. I'm going to save enough money for Heads, Intake, Cam, Headers with ORY, SFC's, Torque Arm. Springs and Shocks, as well as Chrome Y2K Millenium Corvette wheels. Then later a Trans Am rear deck lid and an SLP Ram air HO hood..:thumbsup:Oh and probably before the appearance mods I may need a 12 bolt due to the heads and cam swap...;)I'm going to try and save about 10K so I can get it all done at once..

It does make some sense if you have an already modded car. However, you are wasting all your engine mods, possibly exhaust, and as far as I know, front suspension is stiffer.
My opinion, if you take your sweet time selling and buying, you can get some awesome deals. Plus the LS1's are usually higher optioned than base models, so that may be a plus.
But that's just me...

He already has the V8 steering rack in his car the Exhaust system minus the headers and Y pipe can also be used. I don't want a T-56.. I'm going to do a built Auto with a PT 4400 Yank verter...;)

Ok, I forgot a few things. Also, if it was me and my dad swapping it out it WOULD take longer than a weekend. I would like to do the swap on my car, but I just would rather spend the money on a Z28 or t/a than do the swap.

having college advisors lie to you is a bitch... plus I am going to try something that has yet to be tried on a V6 before I do a swap.
