I live in Hawaii and no one is doing shit with V6 F-bodies. I've been starting to research turbos for my car but I'm going to have to do it all myself. I've got Corky Bell's book "Maximum Boost" and it has a lot of info and is a big help but I need some real world advice as well.

I'd like to know what size intercoolers people are able to fit in the nose of a Camaro and how it's orientated.

Also what size primaries are you running and into what size collectors. Same thing for the exhaust after the turbo.

I've seen a lot of single turbo systems here, but I want a twin set-up. There should be room, just a little bit more plumbing and a little more money, don't know if it's worth it in the long run though.

Appreciate any help and advice anyone can send my way. Thanks!

Intercooler size just depends on where you want to mount it. I mounted mine in the front bumper, it's 24x12x3. If you put it in the opening that flows air through the radiator (in front of the air dam) 30x6x3 will fit in there pretty well. If you're doing a twin kit, you might look into doing twin FMICs in the bumper.

Your downpipe(s) should be 2.5" - 3". Pretty much everyone who comes in here will tell you to run the biggest fattest open DP you can, but it's really not needed. a single 3" pipe will support somewhere in the area of 700hp, so a 2.5" is more than enough for the majority of people here.

The only thing that stopped me from doing a twin setup is the extra cost. Forsome ideas, you might want to check out the Incon setup, as it's probably the best TT 4th Gen FBodykit there is. The mounting of the turbos and the routing of the DPs is very simple, and very effective.

why twin fmics?
is it due to the piping of having a single in the nose of a 4th gen fbody? i'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything, I haven't seen any good turbo setups on a 6banger fbody :)

It's just a matter of personal preference, really. . With that type of setup you wouldn't have to cross over one cold side to the other, and could just Y them together after their respective intercoolers. A single intercooler would work just fine as well, but you'd have to cross your cold side over and y them together right before the intercooler, which, depending on howyou did it, might be apretty tight fit. If it were my car i'd have one IC per turbo, right behind the foglight holes.

Or you could get a dual entry, single exit, with the exit on the top, entrance on either side. Keeps the pipes short and would fit real nice. Its what I would do with twins.

To answer your question, you can go pretty big. I think up to 36 inches wide will fit up front, depending on the type of car and design of endtank. Prolly 12-13 inches tall (this might take some cutting) and 3- 3.5 inch thickness. This is assuming you are going in front, removing the bumper support.

This fits a Camaro front end, I doubt you will ever need anything bigger. Should prolly go smaller if anything.

That would make for a pretty simple and clean setup.

You read my mind CP...ever twin car I've seen thus far (all LS1's granted) have been dual in - single out FMIC's. They sem to work pretty well, and clean up the pipe routing nightmare.

Over on LS2 in the Forced Induction section, Eboggs posted pics of his Incon setup. Twin GT35s, twin ICs. Minus the cast manifolds, that's how i would do it if i were to do a twin setup.

This would rock your twins all day.

where did you find that ic, and how much was it. I have had trouble finding one like that.

You probably will have to get something like that custom made. Just get a Spearco core and have someone make you the end tanks. That particular one in the pic is a chop.

awesome, i'll hit them up with an email but they seem resonable from the prices i saw on other IC's there.
