Well i know ill need a new transmission, but what else would be needed if I had a lt2 350? It was pulled from a 02 SS so at least its a camaro but it is 4 years newer than mine. I'm sure motor mounts and maybe trans mounts (havnt seen the transmission for a lt2 so i dont know) and exhaust would be in need as well, but what about a new k-frame? Would the electronics still plug right up or would i need to convert things there as well? (both my car and the car that it was pulled from where automatics. Just trying to get an idea of how possible/difficult this is before I start on it.

well that motor is NOT an LT2, its an LS1, second you will need the tranny from that car, the pcm/wiring harness, k member, motor mounts, interior guages, radiator, radiator fans, uhh i know im missing some stuff.

What the heck is an LT2 anyway?
If it was the original motor in that SS it was an LS1. Could have been swapped out at some point I suppose, but I don't know an engine code LT2.

Read this thread and be informed. I'm almost positive that an LS1 swap has been discussed multiple times in this section. I highly recommend a search next time.

i saw the conversions for a ls1, i was talking about a lt2
http://baltimore.craigslist.org/pts/419177819.html
that one specifically
i dont know much about the v8 engines so i figured asking a forum for advice would be a good idea, so grimm ive read the articles on ls1's, but this is described as a lt2 engine. thank you
he may very well be wrong about it being a lt2 but as you can see he mentions its a direct replacement so i assumed thats what it was, sorry but we all make mistakes
and thank you chets bird those are items i hadn't thought of yet

No problem about the mistakes. That's what this board is here for... ask/answering questions. :)

Also have a complete motor with harness and control unit for the tune port injector system that motor when was removed had 65000 miles. I don't like the sound of that at all. Sounds like it is TPI which would mean it is a 1980s-ish small block. I still don't know the designation. All the GenIII and GenIV small blocks are SFI.
LT2 at least in the modern sense is a 2.0L OHC I4 as it turns out.

Believe it or not, we're just trying to help you and correct the mis-information. There is absolutely no need to be so harsh to those that help you.
