so i wanted to swap in my 3.4 from my camaro into an s10, but now i'm thinking of getting a 350 and swapping that instead.

what is a good engine to do the swap? i'm mostly thinking of truck engines, not ls1 or lt1's.

i want to do a 6 speed tranny. will a vortec 350 bolt up to a t-56? i read about a 3500 silverado with a 6 speed, too. will that one work?

recommendataions?

also... is there a 6 speed tranny that will work with the 3.4? i drove my dad's m6 z28 and i REALLY LIKE 6 speeds now.

ok

lol, you can swap a vortec 350 into an s-10. The difficulty depends on what year s-10 you want to swap into and what engine you want to use.

I read somewhere else on the net that on like 98+ s-10's..the easiest v8 swap is the 5.3l vortec.

As for the 6 speed, I'm not really sure. I don't think the problem so much is whether it'll bolt up, but rather the location of the shifter. Trucks tend to be a little more cramped..and the shift may come up under the seat or something.

hey.. don't laugh...

so how would you fix the shifter problem? would you have to go with a 5 speed or just an automatic?

i'm planning on getting the 1st gen s10 the 82-93 model. the newer ones are too pretty for me.

Camaro 3.4s should be a fairly easy swap. You can use s10 2.8 mounts, exhaust manifolds, tranny.

I believe the trucks come with a 5spd you can use. Talk with Webby092. He's done the v8 s-10 swap with a 5spd. Granted it's a newer truck and engine, I'm sure he can give you some pointers.

The 5.3 is the hardest swap. The 5.3(LSX family) and and LT1 all require fame modifications, crossmember mods, and AC relocations. THe LT1 you will have to run 2 diff ECU's. This all applys to 98+ trucks. My father and I alsp did a 92-S10 with a built TPI 350. That was an easy swap for the most part. Any Gen I small blocks all you need to do is get mounts. Firewayy may need to be massaged a litle bit. Headers can also be a pain, as some wrap around the steering column shaft.

I have always wanted to drop a built 3800 Series II in a 92 truck. That will most likely be my next project car when money allows.

Yeah, I would love to do that...

I second that... When I throw the new motor in the Camaro I want to drop my 3800 I have in my camaro currently pushing me into the 13s into an S10 which I believe is lighter. How much do S10s weigh? The 1992 bodystyle

I heard that its really hard to swap if the s-10 is 4wd though.

Any good info on 3800 motors (preferably SC) in to S-trucks? All my searches come up with random stuff?

IIRC, the FWD 90* V-6 have the same bolt pattern as a 60*.....mounts would be a bit of a challenge, but the motors can be had relatively cheap. My 2.8 TBi S-10 is weaksauce,.... oh yeah, GD starter motor!!!

Yes they are light, but its about proper weight distribution. I mean if the motor that is coming out has springs for a 4 cylinder then you need to get v6 springs if you go with a v6. You can't just swap a motor and be done with it, you have to look at every aspect and thing through it with every possible problem at mind so you can figure out how to solve them. There is more to it than just swap and go. Be prepared to have alot of fun.
