Ok, the carb LS2 swap I was looking at doing is going to cost me way to much money so now I'm looking at buying a LS1 and tranny package off of ebay instead. Since the engine and tranny is from another firebird, what would I have to change in my current one besides installing a gauge set out of a trans am?

Ouch.... Unless this is a serious labor of love, I would consider buying the "single plane" intake, carb and ignition controller. It will be FAR easier to do this as opposed to wiring in the ls1 ecu.

just get the same year PCM/tranny/engine as your car and its not that bad. same year PCM means it will just plug right into your existing dashmount without cutting wires or anything like that. but youll need new fuel pump, fuel lines, obvious engine/tranny and mounts, kmember, throttle cable, ls1 gas pedal, ls1 radiator/dual fan setup, i think thats it... i might be forgetting something.

This pretty much covers everything involved with swapping it over.

much easier to buy a wrecked car for your swap. Im doing one now and EVERYTHING is different, rears, rear brake lines, fuel tank and pump, fuel lines, for the engine and trans you need the complete wire harness and all the stuff that bolts to the ls1 alternator powersteering etc, springs have differ weight capacity, throtthle cables, radiators, computer, drive shaft, exhaust. Pretty much everything you can think of, little things that you wont have steering column and shaft, if you dont get a complete wrecked car you will have more money in it in the end then it is to buy one already done, dont forget rear hatches bumpers hoods ground effexts all different, nice stuff to have if the parts car has it.

You can use a v6 rear end with no problems. You can use the brake lines. My driveshafts are interchangible, mine came with a 1 pc.

Ya he could probaly come out pretty close to even if he bought a wrecked car, took out the drive train and parted the rest out and his v6 parts.

How much do you think a wrecked one would go for?

you dont need a new axle or driveshaft and as for the rear hatch bumper hood ground effects... hes doing an engine swap not a building from frame up. talk to tacreations they know everything. you can use the same brake lines as well because they have nothing to do with the engine.

this guy is right. body does not equal engine. why would you need to change that out. and the brakes are not connected to the engine. ive talked to a local shop that im pretty good friends with and all you need before the unexpecteds are the full engine with all parts alt, wiring, all that crap and the tranny. and you should be good.
