the biggest problems with v8s in my mind is
too heavy (unless northstar or the new z06)
too much bottom end torque - mg2 transmissions can only take so much...
the owner/drivers *makes tim allen monkey noises arrrrr ohg ogh i have a v8
simply put... too much torque and too much weight
Im willing to bet (and have actually done it) a properly set up 300 hp
2800 lb fiero will kick ass on a road course or a drag strip using a multi valve
modern v6 say 3.5 liters or an old school push rod like mine.
i have driven v8 fieros and they have way too much weight in the back
forget any kind of launch in the wet, or around corners or or or..
now take a v6 that makes its power in the 5000 to 6000 range or
with a turbo and everything changes...
there is a replacement for displacement... its called technology
sorry to rain on your parade.

Well I have the distinct feeling that an old iron V8 has it's place and has a mean dollar/hp value, but a V6 does a much better job of moving a Fiero due to weight and powerband differences, with the exception of the Northstar and possibly Gen III V8s.
