moving to the conversion forum...
I'd go LT1 due to the ease of swap compared to an LS1. With the money you dave by going that route, you can do a heads/cam swap while you've got it out. No sense in putting in a stock motor. :D

Id be pretty cool to have a 95 ls1 tho. But alot more money and work id think.

the ls1 swap would kill you. The reason that the 98+ f-bodies were redesigned up "front" to begin with was to make accomodations for the taller ls1 motor.

I heard about clearance issues, and I've never heard of a 93-97 fbody having an LS1 swap done:umm:

it's been done... i can think of at least 3 cars just in this area alone that have gone that route. they had to use a taller hood but it still worked dimensionally.
we aren't talking feet here, just a few inches...

yeah, and they all look really nasty. You are gonna have a pain trying to get an ls1 working in an lt1 body. Just go ahead and get a cheap ls1 car. You will save yourself alot of hassle.

This is the only FACTORY hood that resembles anything to do with Ram-Air. He said a NORMAL hood, a WS6 style ram-air hood did not come (from the factory) for a 93-97 camaro.

lol ive seen an ls1 in a miata anything is possible. i think im gunna take the road less traveled and go with the ls1. It wold just be a 95 formula if i went with the lt1. but if i when with a ls1 it would be a 95 ls1 lol . thanx everyone for ur help

The best way to do an LT1 swap is actually go out and buy a LT1 F-body, they have gotten really cheap. At least then you would know what you were getting, lot less hassle as well and no down time to do the swap. Lot of Lt1 cores from the wrecking yards are kind :umm:

but since you already got the LT1 car in front of you, why dont you just keep it

I think that's what he's saying :
and no down time to do the swap Last sentence kinda confused me though..idk

He was saying it's just easier and sometimes cheaper to buy an LT1 car rather than swapping an LT1 into a v6.

If you were to do the swap in to the current car, you have down time, thats the time when the car wont be running. LT1s have gotten pretty cheap, 4K or so gets you a clean one, so it would be all means easier to sell the V6 and just go out and get an LT1 car. Least then you know what your getting, far as miles and condition on the drivetrain.

Well i want a v8 to and my dad does not wanna buy me a hole new car but he was thinking of a motor swap too he could get a clean ls1 v8 engine for 2500 is that good?

Just the motor or motor and trans? How many miles? That's rather steep for just a motor. Plan on spending atleast $6k to do a v8 swap into one of these cars.
