I was wondering if anyone has done anyresearch or knows anything about the differences in the LS2 and LS1 motors. Is there anything different about the LS2 that would make it more difficult to swap than an LS1? Also, is the engine mounts and K member the same as that of LS1? What else different would be needed for a swap? Would the computer etc. match up with and work in a 2000 3.8?

The LS1 would be easier because LS1's came in F-Body's from the factory, so if you got one out of an F-Body... I imagine it'd be easier. I haven't looked into what it takes to swap an LS2 in though.

You'd need (at minimum):
LS1 K-Member w/ mounts
LS1 Transmission
LS1 PCM
LS1 gas pedal

You can also pick up an LS1 much cheaper than an LS2 and then do the LS6 conversion to it pretty cheap and have the same output essentially.

LS2 and LS1 are basically the same externally... there are a few little odds and ends that are different but nothing that would make it tougher than an LS1 swap.

the only advantage in the LS2 that i could think of would be more cubes and being able to use the L92 heads.

other than that the LS1 is tried and true and getting damn near a chevy small block in terms of aftermarket saturation...

LS1 K-Member w/ mounts
LS1 Transmission
LS1 PCM
LS1 gas pedal

You need everything listed and either the LS1 or LS2 will work.. Just which ever one fits into your budget..
