im not sure where to put this but has anyone heard of or seen a 4.3 ltr motor swap into a camaro? i have one out of a newer s10 that my neighbor totalled so i wouldnt have to find the motor. all suggestions and comments (good or bad) are accepted. just thought i would throw it out there.

That is not a very popular swap.

If you're going thru the trouble to pull your motor out, you might as well put in a v8. I think that is the general mentality of most f-bod folks.

I dont see the need to do this now that we have a decent stroker option that gets us up to 4.2L.

The 4.3 is a pretty decent motor with a rather large aftermarket. They just aren't worth the effort to swap into our cars. For the same difficulty you could swap in an LT1/LS1 and be done with it.

Yep. I have both engines, lucky me, a 95 LT1 out of my Buick Roadmaster that was totaled 2 years ago, and a 96 Vortec 4.3 out of my Blazer that is beat to hell. . . Still drive the blazer though. . . I would def. swap in the LT1 over the 4.3, because the V8 is the easier of the two. You would need to do the same things to swap in a 4.3 as an LT1-LS1, except you will have to fill in any gaps you find in your plans yourself, whereas V6-LT1/LS1 writeups have been posted all over the place. Go with a V8, you can get a donor car relatively cheap now.

where can i get the v 8 for relatively cheap. i used to have a s10 with the 4.3 and it was a tourquey motor. and i also thought the 4.3 swap cuz i already have one. but if you can give me a linkk to a cheap v8 it would be great. prefferably LS1

LT1 would be the best swap for your car since it's a 97. If it were 98+ you could look for an LS1.

I'm not saying you can't swap an LS1 into a 93-97 car...but it's much easier to swap in an LT1 since that's what the bodystyle was made for.

I'd check either e-bay or tacreations.com for a motor and see what turns up.

i am not gonna go thru ebay for a motor cuz my neighbor did to buy a truck and the motor in it ended up being blown so he bought a new motor off ebay and that was blown too. but tacreations.com was a site for fanny packs and wallets. i guessing it was the wrong site.

If your gonna pull the entire engine out and have the funds, just go with an LS1/LT1 swap. Just because 4.3L > 3.8L doesn't make it a better engine, though I have heard good things about the 4.3's.

Tacreations is a great site. I'm pretty sure they have what you need to do any fbody motorswap, but I wouldn't know for sure because THEY NEVER EVER RETURN MY FUCKING EMAILS!!

I'm gonna try to get them, I'm in the process of getting my Datsun ready for DD status, then the 'maro's getting parked and prepped for a motor swap. . . LT1/4L60E baby! I have the motor and trans, I'm gonna rebuild them both. I can't wait! I'll still hang out with you guys, I'll just be around a little less. . . I'll be out at the track whoopin' stangs. lol
