I am thinking about building an LT-1 and then putting it in my camaro. I found an alluminum used bare block for $350, i bought an engine stand the other day and my parents are cool with it, now, i just have one question, will the LT-1 fit into my camaro? i dont mean just pop in there, i mean if i mabye change out the k-member or something, would it fit? and then could i use the same transmission?(not that i would want to, but i couldnt afford a tranny after that) i understand that the new motor would tear up the 4l60e that is currentlly in there and also the rear-end. what about PCM? weight for the springs? speedo? i am very close to doing this so if mabye yall know about a site than i can look at and find this out, that would be great.
All help is appreciated, thank you!

It would be much easier and probably cheaper to just find a 93-97 Z28.

Didn't the 1996 have LT1s in them. What would be the difference for him putting the LT1 in his car as to someone putting putting a LS1 in a 2000.:confused:

he can easily just pay for an LT1 car once he spends all that money.

you can do it. its going to be time consuming though. best bet, find a wrecked LT1 car that you can buy really cheap to use as a donor to get all your accessories, K-member, PCM, and at least have a used tranny that will bolt up to your newly built LT1. You should be able to fnid a wrecked LT1 car for a couple grand.

Then stick with the v6, unless you have people helping who know what to do.. I would never atempt something like this using internet FAQ's..

If you want a Lt1 car then my opinion would be to buy another ride..

It's hard to let your first love go untill you sit in the seat of your new/faster ride. Trust me...

If you found and aluminum block its not an lt1 block. No such thing, and there is no aftermarket because of reverse flow.

Lt1=not worth it.

You can make your car faster than an LT1 with a couple grand in mods and have WAY better gas milage.
If you're going to swap, go for the big boy and go LS1.
